lighting commission MOVING LUMINAIRE PROGRAMMER/OPERATOR The technician who is responsible for programming, operating and troubleshooting the moving lights for a production. Sometimes operation and programming duties are split between different people, dependent on the needs and resources of the production. RESPONSIBILITIES * Attends all lighting and technical rehearsals, as well as performances. * Programs the moving light cues to the satisfaction of the LD. * Executes all lighting cues at the command of the Stage Manager during rehearsals and performances. * Troubleshoots problems with the moving lights as appropriate. * Assists the Stage Manager or supervising electrician with dimmer/focus checks prior to each technical rehearsal or performance. * * * * * * * * QUALIFICATIONS Knowledge of the specific equipment being used. Speed and accuracy in data entry with the moving light console. As this is a highly skilled position, prior theatrical backstage experience is a must. RESPONSIBILITIES * Reads script and determines the visual needs that meet and support the director's lighting needs of the production. * Meets with the Director and design team of the production to help determine the concept, which all artists will work within. * Selects the film type, camera and camera lens(es) used for different shots. * Determines camera movement and framing angle along with the Director to achieve each shot. * Meets with lighting personnel as necessary to facilitate the interpretation of the lighting ideas into reality. * Determines the color scheme of any gels and/or diffusions. * Meets scheduled design deadlines.
