CSX's Gooden to Receive Silver Kingpin Award Longtime CSX Corp. executive Clarence Gooden will be honored Sept. 21 with the Intermodal Association of North America's 2015 Silver Kingpin Award. Gooden, who currently serves as executive vice president and chief commercial officer of Jacksonville, Fla.-based CSX Corp., will receive the award during the opening session of Intermodal EXPO 2015 in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The award, the intermodal industry's most prestigious, recognizes an individual's long-term contributions to intermodalism. It was initiated in 1977. Measures aiming at enhancing trade and transportation opportunities remain under consideration in several statehouses, including in California (S.B. 63), Maine (S.P. 531), New Jersey than 45 years, Gooden has played an integral role in the growth of CSX's intermodal business, applying a visionary Gooden approach while focusing upon customer engagement. From 1993 to 2001 he served as president of CSX Intermodal. Among his accomplishments, Gooden was instrumental in the creation of the NACS free-running (A.B. 4028 and S.B. 2739), New York (S.B. 2648), Pennsylvania (S.B. 224) and South Carolina (S.B. 743). Such a measure has died upon legislative adjournment in Connecticut (S.B. 938). Bills outlawing indemnity agreements in motor carrier transportation contracts have remained active in New Jersey (A.B. 3282 and S.B. 1380), New York (A.B. 7307 and S.B. 4173), Ohio State Bill Number(s) of Active Driver Classification Measures California A.B. 621 Iowa H.F. 72 container program and is equally committed to engaging other company partners with the goal of bettering the entire industry. Some of his achievements in this area have included the launch of an annual e-business forum, a first for the industry, as well as improvements in business-to-business data-sharing. Gooden has served two terms on the IANA board of directors and is active in several other industry and community organizations, including the National Freight Transportation Association, TTX Company, the Jacksonville Museum of Modern Art and the National Association of Manufacturers.
