Comments are due by October 13, 2015 in order to be included as part of the report to Congress. DOT released the technical results of the study for peer review on June 5, 2015. DOT was required under MAP-21 to conduct a study addressing differences in safety risks, infrastructure impacts, and the effect on levels of enforcement between trucks operating at or within federal truck size and weight limits and trucks legally operating in excess of federal limits. For the study, DOT recommended no changes to allowable size and weights of commercial trucks until "significant data limitations" are overcome.
