Nominations for Election to the 2016 Board of Directors Intermodal EXPO 2015 Addresses Stakeholder Needs Following is the slate of nominees for the Board of Directors election. Please note that Supplier Division and At-Large seats are filled by continuing Directors. Consequently, Supplier Division members did not receive a ballot for this election. Joni Casey, president and CEO of the Intermodal Association of North America, set a challenge for the 1,800+ attendees at Intermodal EXPO in Ft. Lauderdale, FL to "leave with more business than when you arrived, to make contacts and acquaintances, and to learn something that you didn't know before." EXPO's educational program also highlighted a number of industry challenges for attendees to address in their businesses and through IANA. The work for EXPO attendees started before the two-day event's official opening with task force and committee meetings which dug into some of the critical issues facing the intermodal sector. The work continued in a series of concurrent sessions that covered topics including shipper expectations, port labor issues, driver productivity, equipment and its maintenance, new intermodal markets, and industry detention and demurrage charges, as well as legislative and legal matters. At the Maintenance and Repair Committee meeting, the task force reports included the conversion of ISO and AAR repair codes. Chassis mechanic qualifications were another major issue, including training guidelines and developing inspection criteria. University of North Texas Three-Peats at Intermodal EXPO The student team fielded by the University of North Texas earned the institution its third consecutive victory in the EXPO Academic Challenge, IANA's annual student competition that was held on Monday afternoon, September 21. The UNT trio bested teams from the University of Maryland, the University of North Florida and the University of Wisconsin-Superior. Since its inception in 2007, IANA's scholarship program has awarded more than $1.2 million to freight-transportation university programs with an intermodal emphasis.
