IANA Committee Meetings at EXPO Meetings of IANA standing committees will take place prior to the opening of Intermodal EXPO 2016 at the George R. Brown Convention Center. Sunday, September 18 8:30 a.m. - 10:30 a.m. Maintenance & Repair Committee 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. Operations Committee Committee meetings are open to all IANA members and EXPO attendees. Intermodal Truck Driver Appreciation Week Request National Truck Driver Appreciation Week is Sept. 11-17, and over the next two months IANA will be recognizing intermodal drivers through various forms of media. Motor carrier members are requested to share stories of what they are doing to recognize drivers or photos of drivers either "in action" or in informal natural poses. Images of drivers standing by or in their trucks are preferred. Please send stories and images to insights@intermodal.org. Nominees Sought for IANA Board IANA has issued the Call for Nominations for individuals to run for its 2017 board of directors. Nominations must be submitted no later than Monday, Sept. 5, 2016. IANA will be conducting the nominations/elections to the board of directors via "Simply Voting", a secure web-based election management system. Visit the Members Only area of the IANA website to find details and instructions regarding the nomination process. The following directors' seats will be up for re-election. Curry, Jr., California Multimodal LLC Keith Lovetro, TRAC Intermodal Dean Piacente, CSX Transportation At-Large At-Large Motor Carrier Supplier Rail FECR's Hertwig to Receive Silver Kingpin Award Longtime transportation executive and "intermodalist," Jim Hertwig will be recognized with IANA's 2016 Silver Kingpin Award on Sept. 19. Hertwig, who currently serves as the president and chief executive officer of Florida East Coast Railway, will receive the award during the opening general session at Intermodal EXPO 2016 in Houston, Texas. The award, the intermodal industry's most Hertwig prestigious, is given to recognize an individual's long-term contribution to the industry. It was initiated in 1977. Hertwig's career has spanned 45 years in freight transportation. Prior to joining FECR in 2010, he served six years as president of CSX Intermodal, Inc., and nearly nine years as president of Landstar Logistics. He has also held positions as president and CEO of Carolina Freight Carriers Corporation and chairman and CEO of Red Arrow Freight Lines, two large regional LTL carriers. Before that, he spent eight years as President and CEO of Con-Way Intermodal, a multimodal truckload service provider and International NVOCC. Hertwig served three terms on IANA's board of directors and presently sits on the board of directors of the Transportation Institute at the University of Denver. He was a panelist on a technical peer review of the U.S. Maritime Administration's study of the Panama Canal expansion and in 2012, Hertwig was the first person outside the maritime industry to receive the Golden Compass Award from Seafarers' House at Port Everglades.
