Street Interchange App
Updates
IANA is also working to complete a
mobile version of its Street Interchange
Application, or SIA, Sasko said. The mobile
app, which will be ready for release late in
the third quarter, provides an alternative to
the current web portal for users to access
street interchange information.
With the mobile app, base functions
can be performed, including the initiation,
approval or cancellation of transactions.
In addition, the mobile app can be used to
search for pending, approved and rejected
transactions.
"This mobile app was developed to
provide another benefit, at no cost, to UIIA
participants," Sasko said. "It is intended
to provide a useful tool to enhance the
speed, flexibility and efficiency of the
street interchange process."
In addition to developing the mobile app, IANA has conducted outreach
through conference calls and a webinar
to solicit ideas for additional functionality
from users.
The user recommendations for
suggested enhancements to the SIA are
currently under review to determine the
feasibility of each item, Sasko said.
Two changes to the SIA have been
made. One is to create an archival
function for older transactions, which
is designed to optimize the ability for
users to access those prior transactions.
The other is to create a search function
by Standard Carrier Alpha Code for
equipment providers using the system in
order to identify motor carriers specifically
when there are two trucking companies
involved.
EP Update
On the equipment provider side,
American Intermodal Management has
submitted its application and addendum
that is part of the process to become a
UIIA participant. The addendum is being
reviewed by the IIEC.
IANA also is continuing its outreach
to industry stakeholders on the benefits
associated with the adoption of its
information service programs, with
particular focus on the SIA, Intermodal
Driver Database and Bad Order Equipment
