HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN A
BROKER?
JM: I joined Staebler Insurance in 2006 and I got my
broker's license in 2010.
CE: 10 months, but I've been in the industry for 10
years.
CU: Eight and a half years.
AR: I've worked in the business since I was 13 as
my father owned a brokerage. As soon as I turned
18, I obtained my RIBO license. After graduating
university in 2006, I took on a full-time role as a
broker.
SJ: Since April, 2016.
RM: Since June, 2017.

WHAT'S YOUR FAVORITE PART OF
BEING A BROKER?
JM: Encouraging others to become a broker
themselves! I spend time at career and job fairs and
at college and university events talking to upcoming
or recent graduates about working as a broker.
CE: Getting to meet new people and learning about
clients' businesses.
CU: Being able to educate clients and provide them
with the coverage they need. When you take the time
to properly explain to your clients, they really see the
value of insurance.
AR: I love interacting with clients and solving their
problems. I also love that the business has been a
part of my family's identity and carrying on that
legacy.
SJ: The huge variety of people I have the luxury of
meeting and speaking with every day.
RM: Dealing with two different but similar groups
of people - insurance companies and the general
public.

WHAT DID YOU WANT TO BE WHEN
YOU WERE GROWING UP?
JM: I wanted to be a singer or an actress. I had pretty
serious stage fright though so I didn't spend a lot of
time singing or acting for anyone.
CE: A chef or an insurance broker.

CU: I think I have been working in business my
whole life - I started selling Regal door-to-door
when I was eight.
AR: Growing up I always wanted to be a lawyer.
I think that's what attracts me to the insurance
business - on a daily basis we deal with contract law
without maybe even realizing it.
SJ: I was a lame kid and wanted to be a lawyer...until
I learnt what that actually meant!
RM: A stockbroker.

WHAT'S YOUR HIDDEN TALENT?
JM: I like to think my hidden talent is singing but
you'd have to ask my shower head if I really have a
talent for it.
CE: Cooking.
CU: I have an amazing sense of direction.
AR: I'm a great cook! I spend much of my spare time
watching the Food Network and I collect cookbooks.
SJ: I can whistle while smiling. I always thought this
was normal, but people freak out when they see it.
RM: Karaoke.

WHAT ARE YOU EXCITED TO BRING
TO YBC?
JM: I'm excited to bring my sense of humour, energy
and passion. I'm also excited to get some of the young
brokers in our office involved in the YBC.
CE: Company perspective.
CU: A great passion for the insurance industry and
the future of the broker channel.
AR: I've been raised in this business and I've seen
first-hand the challenges that brokerages face dayto-day. My experience and relationships give me a
fresh perspective and a wealth of knowledge despite
my age.
SJ: My passion and excitement for the broker
channel. The sky is the limit in this industry and
I want all young people considering or starting a
career in insurance to know that!
RM: I'm excited to contribute digitally to increase
awareness of insurance brokers to the millennial
generation.
