t the beginning of
April, SGI CANADA
hosted brokers from
across the country
to discuss digital transformation.
The convention focused on
embracing digital technology in
their businesses to deliver on
customer expectations and attract
new customers to the broker
channel.
This year's SGI Convention
theme was Ride the Wave. Andrew
Cartmell, President and CEO
of SGI CANADA explained
the meaning behind the theme:
"Ride the Wave is a call to use our
knowledge of future trends to build
a shared foundation for success."
One of the highlights was
keynote speaker Kevin Peesker,
President of Microsoft Canada,
who identified the opportunities
in using technology in the
insurance industry, "...whether
it's using AI to gain insights
from industry data to drive
product innovation and a
more personalized customer
experience, or implementing
platforms to drive productivity
and employee engagement."
Other speakers included
IBAO Member Adam Duliban,
Co-Principal of Duliban

Insurance, who participated
in the Enhancing your Digital
Expertise panel with more than
1,000 broker attendees from
Saskatchewan and across the
country. Brokers presented
success stories and lessons
learned, offering tips to help
other brokers enhance their
digital proficiency. Adam
discussed how Duliban utilized
data and various forms of
analytics as their main focus to
provide a hometown proactive
customer experience.
"It was inspiring and encouraging
to see SGI's focus on data, real
time connectivity and APIs,"
said Adam. "Kevin Peesker of
Microsoft delivered an incredible
keynote focusing on voice
synthesis, machine learning and
how businesses are leveraging AI
in all forms."
A second IBAO Member who
participated was Adam Hare,
President of Petley-Hare, who
spoke at SGI's Digital Bootcamp
with Trufla Technology. The
bootcamp let brokers discuss
how to better connect with
customers through digital
marketing tactics including
online advertising, lead
generation, mobile apps and
practical web design.
