Our organization fully supports continuing
education for staff. We pay for courses,
provide paid time off to study and
take exams, and reward achievements
monetarily. Many employers offer
similar incentives. We don't view these as
expenses-they're investments. Investing
in staff leads to engagement and loyalty
and ultimately creates employees who offer
high quality service and work. I encourage
you to examine your company's approach
to supporting your staffs' learning. I
promise you the return on investment is
significant.
Another means to help employees advance
their career is by offering development
opportunities. These give employees
the chance to try other roles for a
determined period of time, be it within

their department or a different arm of the
company. Through these opportunities,
people gain valuable knowledge and
experience, allowing them to grow their
career at a faster pace.

so it's vital that time spent is valued
and manageable. Organizations that

Our industry will always need brokers,
underwriters, actuaries and adjusters. We
need to be creative in how we draw new
talent to our business by demonstrating
that insurance is actually pretty cool! It's
important that the knowledge of those
retiring can be transferred to the incumbent
workforce effectively. We need to find ways
to engage the next generation once they're
on board, not only to retain them but to
ensure their careers flourish. This is the
future face of our industry and I, for one, am
excited to see what they do with it.
