2019 Awards of Excellence nominations are open and this
year we've made some big changes! We've split Brokerage of
the Year into two categories: Brokerage of the Year-Over 10
Licensed Brokers and Brokerage of the Year-10 Licensed Brokers
and Under. Innovator of the Year has been replaced with
Innovation of the Year. And perhaps most importantly, this
year's winners will receive prizes valued up to $5,000.

CHANGES TO SLIP-AND-FALL GAIN TRACTION

WHO KNEW ETHICS WAS SO POPULAR?

A Bill that would change slip-and-fall lawsuit rules is sliding
along. Bill 118 has now passed its second reading and has been
referred to the Standing Committee on Regulations and Private
Bills. Plaintiffs wanting to sue after a slip-and-fall would have to
give defendants notice within 10 days of the incident, a significant
reduction from the current rule, which allows them to file up to
two years after the incident.

Since its introduction less than a year ago over 5,000 brokers
have registered for our Ethics eLearning course, Ethical Steps:
Facing Ethical Situations in Insurance. The course is offered
free of charge and is exclusively available to IBAO Members.
Brokers have until September 30th to fulfill their RIBO
education requirements, which include one Ethics Hour for
any licensed broker.
