with certain guests, based on what they want

back and forth and when it happens it's really

Pete will be at this year's Convention both
to moderate the CEO Panel and to cover the
event on The Insurance Podcast.

Pete and his wife sold their brokerage in 2017.
Since then, he started working as a consultant in
the industry and started The Insurance Podcast.

For new listeners Pete recommends starting
with the episode Podcast Collision: Jason Cass
Agents of Influence where he talks with an
American insurance podcaster. They cover
a lot of ground including the differences
between American and Canadian consumers
and the role of technology in insurance, a topic
Pete cares a lot about.

Creating digital media was something Pete
had experience in. "I worked for a large
company doing audiovisual production in
university and afterwards. I made corporate
videos, presentations, all sorts of things that
supported the executive and the corporate
communications initiatives of the company.
That was my first foray into digital media."
A good friend of Pete's worked in radio as
a program director and had gotten into
podcasting. He was the one who suggested
Pete start his own. "At the time there weren't
a lot of podcasts talking about anything to do
with insurance, particularly in Canada. I gave
it a shot and it's taken on a life of its own. It's
keeping me busier than I ever planned to be,
which is a lot of fun."
Since starting in late 2017, Pete has released
over 40 episodes. The show has a 4.9 rating
on iTunes. One reviewer said, Pete does an

"One thing that's different about the insurance
industry is that we may all be competitors in
our marketplace, but we're also friends and
colleagues. I think a lot of times maybe we're
afraid to ask a fellow broker, hey, you tried this
certain technology, what did you learn from it?
How's it working for you? I bet nine times out of
ten that broker is going to enlighten you.
"Somehow in technology it seems everybody
wants to get an edge. But if we go back and
think historically about the broker channel,
we've always come together to make it the
best choice for consumers. We're friends in
every other capacity, why wouldn't we be the
same way with technology? We have these
incredibly powerful and diverse professional

"We're going to try to capture the energy and the
best content to deliver to the people who can't
be there. If you've never been to Convention,
we're going to bring you the atmosphere, so you
definitely come next year."
