W

hile Gabby may be new to her role as
Project Coordinator, she's not new to
the IBAO. Entering her seventh year
with the association, she began her
journey as receptionist, transitioning
to Client Coordinator for IBAO's for-profit arm, IBRI. She
then transitioned to her new role as activities started to wind
down for IBRI. "I'm responsible for planning projects and
overseeing tasks and duties related to them. Time has really
flown by-I feel I've accomplished a lot at IBAO."

to Ecuador and travel South America. I love that my parents
exposed us to traveling and I want to do the same with Ela. I
feel like it made me more aware of things outside of where we
grew up. I definitely want to keep that tradition alive."
Though with motherhood, there are some things Gabby's had
to put aside. "I've been skydiving and loved it. My cheeks were
over my eyes-I didn't know skin could stretch that much,"
she laughs. "I'd love to do it again but now that I have Ela, I
have more than just myself to consider."

Coming from a background in market research, Gabby studied
Fashion Merchandising at Seneca College. "I always wanted
to get into fashion. When a position opened up with Inditex,
one of the world's largest fashion retailers with brands like
Zara and Pull & Bear, it was a dream come true." The job took
her across the Atlantic to Spain where she lived and breathed
fashion for just under a year (fun fact: Gabby is fluent in
Spanish). It was there that she realized she couldn't be away
from family and needed to come home.
When you speak with Gabby, it's very apparent how much
family means. "I have a big family and a tonne of cousins,
so there's always something going on every weekend. From
barbeques, birthdays and nights out to experience new
restaurants, there's never a dull moment it seems."
As a mom of a beautiful 17-month-old girl Ela, a lot has
changed from only a year ago. When asked what she enjoys
doing in her free time, her response, like most new parents is,
"Oh gosh, now? Everything's about Ela!"
Gabby plans to pass down her love of travel to her daughter.
"In February I'm planning on going to Barbados so we can
take our first trip together. I want to make it an annual thing
where every year for her birthday we take a trip together.
Growing up that's what our parents used to do with us.
Up until I was 14, I didn't know what summer was like in
Toronto-once school finished, my family and I would go
