A NEW WAWANESA FARM
PRODUCT ON THE HORIZON

The new Broker Platform is a onestop
shop, where brokers can access
the Wawanesa systems they rely on to
do business; submit claims and direct
bill payments; and view reports and
comprehensive dashboards.
LAST YEAR, the Wawanesa Mutual
Insurance Company celebrated its 125th
anniversary. Our history is rooted in the
town of Wawanesa, Manitoba, where
20 farmers came together to create an
insurance option for their equipment and
share the risk posed to their livelihood.
IT BEGAN ON A PRAIRIE FARM
In the late 1800s, wooden threshing
machines were essential to farm operations
across the Canadian prairies. An early form
of today's combines, these machines made
life easier and more prosperous for farm
families. And yet, wooden threshers were
risky. Their straw-fired boilers shot off
sparks, and were prone to catching fire.
The large insurers of the day wanted
premiums many farmers couldn't afford.
Wawanesa Insurance began to help farmers
get insurance for their wooden threshers,
with the first policy written in 1896, and has
grown to become the largest farm insurance
provider in Canada.

As we reflect on our history, we also
celebrate our relationships with our broker
partners. The value that independent
insurance brokers bring to Canadian
families, farms and businesses has never
been greater. Over the past two years, we
have seen our broker partners go above
and beyond to help people through the

advocacy, and service.

latest innovation in a series of efforts to
better connect with our broker partners and
help improve the service we jointly deliver to
customers.

TRUE TO OUR FARMING ROOTS
We're continuously refining our products
to ensure your clients have the coverage
they need to protect their livelihoods. Over
the past few years we have significantly
grown our farm client base and have
identified some exciting ways to build upon
our offering. With this in mind, we are on
track to introduce our new farm product
offering to our brokers and customers
across Canada at the end of 2022.

reconsider the way we protect our farm
clients, " says Ken Worsley, Director Farm,
Wawanesa Insurance. " We assembled a
Farm Broker Advisory Council - a group
of broker partners who currently sell our
farm/agribusiness coverage - to help
build our new refreshed product line. Our
broker partners have direct insights into
the needs of our mutual customers, so this
collaboration was invaluable to our process. "
The refreshed product suite will include a new
hobby farm product, as well as multiple coverage
additions and a new structure of enhancements
for all types of farms/agribusinesses.

new product structure, and new farm clients
will feel confident they're covered for all
situations applicable to their farm property
