Scott Frank is the President of AT&T
Intellectual Property. He is responsible for
the identification, development, protection,
management, marketing, licensing, and sale
of all company-wide intellectual property
for AT&T. Scott is Chair/President of
the Global Intellectual Property Alliance,
United State Intellectual Property Alliance,
and Georgia Intellectual Property Alliance.
He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Intellectual
Property Owners Assoc; Chair of the Georgia Tech and Georgia
State University Intellectual Property Advisory Boards; a member
and former Chair of the Board of Directors of the Georgia
Tech Research Corporation; a former White House Advisor on
International Trade Related to Intellectual Property; and former
Chair of the State Bar of Georgia's Intellectual Property Law
Section. He is also the Chair of the Swift School for Dyslexic
children, Chair of the Peace, Harmony, Joy Alliance, and former
Vice-Chair of the Board of Directors of the Mary Hall Freedom
House for rehabilitating women with addiction problems. Scott
is also a member of the Atlanta Rotary which brings people
together for the greater public good. Scott received his Bachelor's
in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Tech and his law degree
and master's in business from Georgia State University.
Scott is married with four children and lives in Atlanta, Georgia,
USA.
Tim Gitau is a technologist and has
been an IEEE member since 2011, volunteering
in numerous roles within the
United States and Africa, making him an
IEEE senior member. He currently serves
as the Treasurer of the IEEE Humanitarian
Technologies Board and supports the
Power and Energy Society (PES) Conferences.
He has work experience in global
corporations and a technology start-up and has worked with
multinational and multicultural colleagues and customers in
over a dozen countries globally.
An IEEE senior member, Gitau holds a bachelor's degree
in Electrical and Computer Engineering, with an emphasis in
power and energy, and received a Master of Science degree in
Artifi cial Intelligence and Machine learning at Colorado State
University Global.
Katie Hafner is an author and long-time
tech journalist who was on staff at The New
York Times for more than a decade. She is
the author of six non-fi ction books, including
Where Wizards Stay Up Late: The Origins
of the Internet (with Matthew Lyon);
the memoir Mother Daughter Me; A Romance
on Three Legs: Glenn Gould's Obsessive
Quest for the Perfect Piano; and The
House at the Bridge: A Story of Modern Germany; She is host
and co-executive producer of the popular podcast, Lost Women of
Science. Her fi rst novel, The Boys, was published in July 2022. She
lives in San Francisco with her husband, Bob Wachter.
