What is the IEEE Instrumentation
and Measurement Society (IMS)?
The IEEE Instrumentation & Measurement Society is dedicated to the development and use of electrical and
electronic instruments and equipment to measure, monitor and/or record physical phenomena.
Our mission is to:
* Provide the most comprehensive and high-quality
services to our members and related professionals.
* Serve as the professional incubator for the growth
of all (particularly younger) members.
* Be at the forefront of future I&M fundamental,
technological, and application advances.
* Provide education in the field of instrumentation
and measurement.
What do we do?
* We have 23 Technical Committees that engage in
different activities, such as standards development.
* We award education-based recognitions and grants,
including a Graduate Fellowship, a Faculty Course
Development Award, and a Best Dissertation Award.
Nominations are typically due in early February
each year.
* We have distinguished lecturer (DL), video tutorial,
and short course programs.
* We have chapters and student chapters around
the world!
* We coordinate a mentorship program to connect
students and young professionals with experts in
the I&M fields.
* We present six society awards annually to recognize
service, technical achievement, mentorship,
and more!
* We provide comprehensive and high-quality
publications to the instrumentation and
measurement community, including the IEEE
Transactions on Instrumentation and Measurement
(the No. 1 journal in I&M among our competitors),
the IEEE Open Journal of Instrumentation and
Measurement, and the IEEE Instrumentation &
Measurement Magazine.
* We have a flagship conference (I2MTC - Join
us in Malaysia in 2023!), four major sponsored
conferences, and multiple technically
co-sponsored conferences!
