KWS33 was organized by Dr. Yukihide Kohira (The
University of Aizu) as Organizing Committee Chair,
Dr. Youhua Shi (Waseda University) as Organizing
Committee Secretary, Dr. Tatsuya Yokota (Nagoya Institute
of Technology) as Finance Chair, Dr. Hiroshi
Mochizuki (Nihon University) as Program Chair, Dr.
Yutaka Masuda (Nagoya University) as Local Chair,
and Dr. Manabu Sugii (Yamaguchi University) as Publication
Chair.
128 participants (65 societies' members including 45
IEEE members, 7 non-members, 45 students, 7 invited
speakers and 4 award winners) joined in KWS33. 16 papers
were accepted as oral presentations and 4 papers
were accepted as Work-in-Progress (WiP) which is a
poster session. Moreover, there were 1 special invited
talk and 6 invited talks. Oral sessions and invited talks
were presented in two or three parallel sessions. In WiP,
5-minite short talks were presented by all presenters in
a virtual room, the research was separately discussed in
individual virtual room.
Dr. Sumio Morioka (Interstellar Technologies, Japan)
gave the special invited talk about embedded hardware
development of Japanese commercial space rockets
(Fig. 3). He talked about the episodes of the development
such as costs, reliability of parts, and development
period.
KWS34 will be also held in a virtual platform in August
2021. KWS35 is expected to have a face-to-face conference
in 2022.

Yukihide Kohira received his B.E., M.E., and D.E. degrees
from Tokyo Institute of Technology, Tokyo, Japan,
in 2003, 2005, and 2007, respectively. He had been a researcher
of Department of Communications and Integrated
Systems in Tokyo Institute of Technology from 2007 to
2009. In 2009, he joined the School of Computer Science
and Engineering in the University of Aizu, where he is
currently as a senior associate professor. His research
interests are in VLSI design automation and combinatorial
algorithms. He is a member of IEEE, IEICE, and IPSJ.
