2. Social Events
Social events help encourage networking and strengthen
relationships amongst our members. We make it a point
to organize interesting and exciting activities every year
to bring together members and their families. Below are
some highlights of our recent activities, complete with
fun, laughter, great food, and fantastic prizes to be won.
3. Regional Activities
There are several regional activities every year, such as
SEACAS, that bring together CAS members in South-East
Asia. SEACAS 2019 was a 4-day event hosted in Kuala
Lumpur, Malaysia, consisting of a hackathon for graduate
student teams. Our Singapore representatives had a
meaningful experience and had the chance to interact
with other teams from Malaysia, Indonesia, Philippines,
Thailand, and Vietnam. It also provided opportunities
for the local chapter committees from the different
countries to connect.
Our contributions have been recognized within IEEE
with several awards over the years, recently receiving
IEEE Best Singapore Chapter award in 2018 and IEEE Circuits
and Systems Chapter-of-the-Year award in 2019.
B. NTU
Nanyang Technological University (NTU) creates a multidisciplinary
research environment for around 30 faculties
from EEE and CSE. With a broad spectrum of knowledge
and skill, to develop innovative circuit techniques
and system solutions, allowing low-power low-cost integration
of analog, mixed signal and radio frequency
circuits, combined with advanced digital signal processors
and various types of sensor networks. The Centre
for Integrated Circuits and Systems (CICS) in particular,
is jointly funded by NTU and Singapore Economic Development
Board (EDB), hosts over 70 skillful and experienced
faculty members, researchers and graduate
research students, with state-of-the-art equipment and
laboratories, professional management and administration,
and a strong network with major collaborators
from universities, institutes and companies in Singapore
and worldwide, developing key technologies required to
design integrated circuits and systems for applications
in medical technology, clean technology, and consumer
electronics.
Our well-known researchers such as Prof. Bah-Hwee
Gwee, Prof. Zhiping Lin, Prof. Arindam Basu, Prof. Chip
Hong Chang and Prof. Yuanjin Zheng have regularly and
extensively published in all spectrums of IEEE CAS flagship
conferences and journals. They are currently focusing
on major design challenges for future cutting-edge
energy-efficient ICs and systems on chips in various application
areas such as security, Artificial Intelligence
(AI), healthcare, energy production, and much more
centering around emerging applications. The school has
produced over 700 EEE students every year since it was
started in 1981.

At the National University of Singapore (NUS), faculty in
the Circuits and Systems area are involved in research,
development and education to address the needs of the
industry in the Internet of Intelligent Things, Artificial
Intelligence (AI), wearable electronics, advanced communications,
and exploratory computing electronic
technologies. NUS faculty have designed an interdisciplinary
curriculum that covers a broad spectrum of topics
on energy efficient electronics from devices, circuits
to systems and algorithms. The curriculum includes
specializations in key topics such as the Internet of
things which give students a view of how microelectronic
devices, sensors, circuits and systems are integrated
into an intelligent network for enabling applications
such as a smart maritime port. Additionally, NUS' many
partnerships with industries through
its research labs address emerging
technological needs of industry such
as smart antennas, body-area sensor
networks and wireless interfaces for
healthcare, energy efficient and secure
ICs for edge AI, and device technologies
for future electronics. These
research centers include FD-fAbrICS
joint lab on intelligent & connected
integrated systems, Hybrid-Integrated
Flexible (Stretchable) Electronics Systems
(HiFES) Center, the Advanced
Research and Technology Innovation
Center (ARTIC), the Advanced Robotics
Center (ARC), the Integrated
