Prof. Herrera-Viedma has been,
for 25 years, an internationally recognized
contributor to R&D programs
in foundations and applications of
fuzzy tools and fuzzy intelligent decision-making
systems. He has worked
in many different areas of fuzzy sets
and soft computing, including decision
making, preference modeling,
computing with words, consensus,
information retrieval, web retrieval,
digital
libraries, recommender systems,
social networks, sentiment
analysis, bibliometrics, and their applications
to realworld
problems.

560 peer-reviewed
scientific publications,
including 350
articles in Journal

and numerous

in these areas. He

Currently, he is serving as an associate

president for publications in the SMCS
(2019-2020), and currently, he is serving
as the vice president for cybernetics
(2021-2023). As the vice president
of publications, he worked as a member

of a new IEEE journal, IEEE Transaction
on Artificial Intelligence, and
he was the chair of the election committees
for different journals in the
SMCS. He has been a member of the
Governing Board of the SMCS since
2014. He served as the chair of the
Publications Ethics Committee of the

of the Transactions Awards Subcommittee
of the SMCS (2019-2020).
Currently, he is serving as a member
of the 2022 SMCS Distinguished
Lecturer Program Committee and
also as a member of the 2022 IEEE
Computational Intelligence Society
Fellows Committee. In addition, he
was an organizer of several international
conferences, serving as the invited
sessions chair of the 2010 IEEE
World Congress on Computational
Intelligence and as the special session

Prof. Herrera-Viedma is an IEEE
Fellow and International Fuzzy Systems
Association Fellow and a recipient
of an IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy
Systems Outstanding Paper Award
from the IEEE Computational Intelligence
Society in 2011. He also received
the 2016 Andrew P. Sage Best Transactions
Paper Award, which recognizes
the authors of the best article among
all articles published in IEEE Transactions
on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics:
Systems. He has been identified
as a Highly Cited Researcher in Computer
Science and/or Engineering by
Clarivate Analytics, in the years 2014,
2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2020.
He also received the UGR Young Researcher
Career Award in 2006, several
UGR Excellent Research Paper
awards (2003, 2010, 2019, and 2020),
and the 2014 Best Paper Herbert Simon
Award of the International Journal of
Information Technology and Decision
Making, among others.
