Renewed Goals
for the New Year

aving concluded the first year
of publication of IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Magazine, it makes good sense
to establish some goals for the pub-
lication in 2016. As suggested in my
October 2015 editorial, the magazine
content can be categorized as either
technical or human interest in nature.
Recognizing the breadth of ar-
articles. In this regard, I suggest that

crease the community of researchers
working in the authors' field of inter-
est. It is through these efforts that the
SMCS will grow and fulfill the vision
of its early founders.
Earlier in this column, I suggest-
ed that goals be made to guide us
through 2016 and beyond. To sum it
up, we look collectively to achieve
the following:
◆ seek ing out awa rd-w i n n i ng,
world-class experts in areas of
interest to the SMCS readership
and solicit top-sought-after state-
of-the-art reviews and tutorials
◆ being the go-to publication for
review articles in the SMCS areas
of interest
◆ meeting the needs for top-rated
technical, high-impact articles in
the SMCS areas of interest
◆ providing an effective means of
communication for the member-
ship and volunteer leadership to
create a dynamic relationship
through which we grow together.
To conclude, and recognizing that
too many goals are less effective than
none, I pledge to work with you to
make for an ideal Society.
Let me hear from you!
