SMCS Vice President

n 1993, my journey with IEEE
began when I submitted my first
paper as a lecturer to an IEEEsponsored conference. Through a
range of diverse, in-depth, and valuable experiences at many IEEEorganized events, I learned a great
deal and developed myself more
fully in my career. Due to the rich
insights and broadening experiences I gained through IEEE, I was
inspired to step up from participant
to contributor in different capacities at various IEEE events. I am
greatly honored to take on a range
of responsibilities and provide my
abilities to better develop IEEE; and
as IEEE develops, so do I myself.
I would like to share some of my
experiences in this article.
As a participant, the development
of my academic career grew with my
papers being published at various
IEEE conferences. I won Best Paper and Best Presentation Awards
at the IEEE International Conference on Industrial Technology 2005
in Hong Kong and the IEEE IECON
2004 in Busan, Korea, respectively.
I served as an invited speaker for
an IEEE workshop at the 2001 IEEE
International Symposium on Industrial Electronics. My understanding
of conference administration developed alongside my participation in
IEEE events, and I began to take on
a more active role in these events. I
