susceptibility. Recorded multidimensional signals are analyzed using state-of-the-art deep learning techniques to
extract informative features and identify a discriminative
pattern to estimate the driver's discomfort.
UMS drivers are also able to express their feelings and
opinions, in real-time during and after driving, by scoring.
The outcomes of the quantitative and qualitative assessments show the effectiveness of the proposed computational-intelligence-based MCAs compared with the
existing MCAs, owing to their superior performance,
decreased human sensation error below human threshold,
maximized sensed reference shape tracking, and efficient
workspace usage, as compared with existing washout filters in the UMS. The provided washout filters by IISRI's
researchers eliminate simulator sickness and maximize
motion fidelity through efficient use of the platform workspace within limitations.
The outcomes of designing and developing MCAs
using advanced computational-intelligence techniques
in the UMS advance fundamental theories of computational intelligence for the design of expert systems. In
addition, the research on MCA using advanced computational-intelligence techniques in the UMS contributes
toward advancing vehicular and aviation technologies,
as well as increasing road safety by utilizing Deakin's
state-of-the-art UMS and IISRI's novel MCAs for virtual
prototyping, testing of vehicles, driver training, and
driver behavior evaluation.

Kingdom, in 1991. He is an Alfred Deakin professor, pro
vice-chancellor (defense technology), chair of engineering,
and the director for the Institute for Intelligent Systems
Research and Innovation at Deakin University in Australia.
He published more than 600 papers in various international
journals and conferences. Prior to joining Deakin University in 1998, he worked at Massey University, New Zealand,
as a senior lecturer. He is the coeditor-in-chief of IEEE Systems Journal, associate editor of IEEE/American Society
of Mechanical Engineers Transactions on Mechatronics,
and an IEEE Access Editorial Board member. He is a fellow
of Engineers Australia, the Institution of Engineering and
Technology, and a Senior Member of the IEEE. His
research interests include modeling of complex systems,
robotics, and haptics.
