his issue marks the third year
of publication for IEEE Sys-
tems, Man, and Cybernetics
Ma--gazine, and it is a good time to
reexamine the mission envisaged in
our aim and scope:
IEEE Systems, Man, and Cy--
bernetics Magazine communicates to readers the activities
and actions of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics
(SMC) Society's governing body,
its technical committees, and
Chapters. Furthermore, the
magazine offers educational
material such as technical
review articles, publishes contributions on educational activities, industrial and university
profiles, conference news, book
reviews, a calendar of important events, and provides information on the activities of sister non-IEEE SMC bodies.
Over the past three years, our content included a mix of historical, personal, and technical subjects, which
I hope have all been relevant toward
the magazine's scope. Our goal for
2018 is to present cutting-edge tutorials and reviews that allow our readers to further appreciate the progress
being made in our fields of interest.
If you can help contribute to this
end, please contact me at elhawary@
