Evalyna Bogdan is an assistant professor in
disaster and emergency management with the School
of Administrative Studies, Faculty of Liberal Arts
and Professional Studies, York University, Toronto,
ON, Canada. Her background is environmental
and disaster sociology. She is interested in creating
innovative educational and engagement strategies
to strengthen societal disaster resilience. Bogdan
has a PhD from the University of Alberta, Edmonton,
Canada, focused on flood risk governance.
Shaieree Cottar is currently pursuing a PhD with
the Department of Geography and Environmental
Management, University of Waterloo, Waterloo,
ON, Canada, and she is also a coordinator for the
Canadian Coastal Resilience Forum. Her research is
on climate change adaptation and Canadian policies
related to disaster recovery, managed retreat, and
resilience building against flood hazards. Cottar has
an MES from the University of Waterloo.
