Motorsport Mayhem
"THE FAST AND THE FURIOUS" has nothing on this
month's featured design: the electric "2018 World
Series of Pro Mod." Speeding from the production
floor at Denver Print House (DPH), the drag-race
design was created for a special racing event hosted
at Colorado's Bandimere Speedway.
"Every year, [the speedway hosts] an event that
has the highest payout in the world for this style
of racing," says Danny Gruninger, general manager
of DPH. "We always love creating artwork for these
special events."
DPH planted its roots in 2005 as a small shop
with manual screen-printing presses. It has grown
to feature several automatic presses, more than
80 embroidery heads, full-service sewing and inhouse graphic design.
DPH's freelance designer Jeremy Duncan created
the design with high-end precision and a burningrubber attitude. The job was a nine-color,
simulated-process print using high-solids

water-based inks. Duncan manually performed the separations in
Adobe Photoshop. All screens had
a 225 mesh count and printing was
done on the company's ROQprint
ECO P16 automatic press.
"Our ability to create designs
that jump off the shirt are a
combination of very well-executed
artwork combined with proper print
technique," Gruninger says. "The
underbase for the design always is
essential in creating the depth
needed to really make a design
shine. Clean colors and a proper
underbase is very important to

1. Gruninger's
favorite part of the
design is the intense
detail seen in the
cars. "Our designer
always goes to the
next level when it
comes to detailing
the cars, which really
makes this particular
design appealing."
2. Using Photoshop,
Duncan achieved the
realistic curvature
and blue background
with a variety of art
techniques, allowing
the atmosphere
surrounding the cars
to come to life.
