tHe itinerary

Day 1: Bangkok
The Eastern & Oriental Express
departs Bangkok early evening.
Sip a welcome drink, and settle
into your comfortable private
compartment. Dinner is served
as the train travels from the city
into the countryside with its
rice fields, villages and water
buffalo. Retire to your compartment, transformed into a cozy
bedroom by your steward.
Day 2: Kanchanaburi
Wake up early so you don't miss
the excitement of the train making its way along the wooden
trestle viaduct from Wang Po
and on to the River Kwai Bridge
station.
Alight in Kanchanaburi for
your choice of tour. The Classic option includes the River
Kwai Bridge and Thai-Burma
Railway Museum, to discover
the history of the infamous
railway built here during World
War II. The "Tracks to Unseen
Thailand" option will have you
biking through the rice paddies,
stopping off at a local farm.
The "Local Flavors" tour option
explores the wet market, a rice
noodle house and combines a
raft cruise with a cooking class.
Return to the train for a relaxing afternoon, with lunch and

dinner on board, as you travel
through unforgettable scenery.
Day 3: Kuala Kangsar
Spend the morning enjoying
the view and a leisurely brunch
on board. Arrive in Kuala Kangsar, where you disembark and
travel by coach to Labu Kabong
to discover rural Malaysian life
with a warm welcome ceremony from the villagers. Take
a guided tour through lush rice
paddies, ending with refreshments and a chance to sample
local produce. Alternatively,
advanced trekkers can follow an
expert naturalist on an invigorating hill trek. Long sleeves,
pants and suitable footwear are
recommended for this option.
Rejoin the train for a refreshing cocktail, accompanied by
live piano music, followed by
a glamorous final dinner on
board.
Day 4: Singapore
After breakfast, it's time to leave
the train, having crossed the
Straits of Johor into Singapore.
