KBIS SPECIAL SECTION NKBA 30 Under 30 Assignments Unveiled The KBIS 2014 30 Under 30 group, with which K+BB has had extensive communication, will be divided up into three teams with three different assignments. Team 1: "Design and Business for the Millennial Generation" will cover the savvy generation that has grown up with HGTV. Team 2: "Multi-Generational Households" will focus on the concept of multi-generational households growing in popularity. Team 3: "Shift in Customer Engagement to Social Collaboration - How to Engage Your Customer" K+BB reached out to the members of the group to learn more about what they plan to bring to the program, what they hope to learn from it and what else they are looking forward to at KBIS 2014. What do you hope to add to the program? Andrew Saladino, Just Bath Vanities I hope that I can use my digital marketing experience to help my fellow 30 Under 30 award winners grow their businesses on the Internet. Our customers are no longer looking for us in traditional media, and having a complete online presence is now more important than ever. I want to share my knowledge and help them with their search engine visibility and social media messaging and grow their email lists, which has been a very crucial component of my company's marketing strategy. Ashley Kasper, Kitchen & Bath Concepts I hope our team can shine some light on how the Digital Age has affected the design world. We will be focusing on how the average client has evolved over the years, specifically touching on how social media has prepared and educated the client before s/he even walks in a vendor's door. We plan to go over the different forms of social media, their benefits and pitfalls, research conducted at the show and how to constantly adapt to an ever-changing industry. What are you hoping to get out of it as a young professional? Danielle Burkhardt, Robern - A Kohler Company I look forward to taking what I learn in both the 30 Under 30 program and at KBIS 2014 back to Robern - A Kohler Company to use as we develop new products and improve upon existing products. We have an opportunity in the K&B industry to create It's Showtime! products that will improve our consumers' daily lives and to better meet their needs. Being part of the program gives me the opportunity to meet with other individuals who are as passionate as I am about the kitchen and bath industry, which is evident in our discussions. What else are you most looking forward to at KBIS 2014 and Design & Construction Week? Molly Barr, Erskine Interiors I'm most looking forward to being able to network with industry professionals - especially 29 other incredible men and women. I'd like to see The New American Home and absorb as much new information as I can. This is a big show on its own, and now NKBA is pairing up with two other shows that I've never been to. I've only been to KBIS once in Chicago, which was only two hours away from my hometown, and I was a student so it will be interesting to see how the location, being an industry professional and being one of the 30 Under 30 candidates changes my experience. It'll be a good kind of crazy. Danielle Gundrum, Oasis Showrooms by APR Supply Co. I am looking forward to seeing what new and innovative products the industry has to offer. I can't wait to see what products push the boundaries of style and function. These are the products that my customers will love to see in the showroom. I'm also looking forward to the addition of the design and construction side because my background is residential and commercial interior design. Not only will I be able to keep up with today's trends in my specific market, but I also get to experience the building industry side as a whole. This will give me a global perspective to better serve my customers. Felix Antonio Capitulo, Aeon Stone and Tile I am quite interested to see the new materials that will be presented during the convention. These new and innovative products will be what influence future trends for the industry. It's quite exciting to be able to see ideas come to life in these tradeshows and see how they become integrated in our profession. Jessica Altman, Hatchett Design/Remodel While I am very excited to learn and get to know the other 29 candidates, I am really looking forward to seeing new product releases. It is one thing to see these products online, but to be able to touch and feel them is invaluable. I spend a lot of time trying to stay on top of the new products and trends so my clients always feel like they are a step ahead; I look forward to bringing back new ideas.
