Neolith also launched a 10.5-ft. x 4.9-ft. (3,200-mm x 1,500-mm) slab
with a ½-in. thickness (12 mm). The new size allows for better utilization of
the surface, as well as reduced waste. For instance, one large slab can be
utilized for two full countertops.
Tile is an exceptional counter surface material, as it is 100 percent natural and recyclable. Porcelain has near-zero porosity, making the product
hygienic, stain resistant, easy-to-clean and impervious to chemicals. The
product is also wear, scratch and heat resistant, and its all-natural colors
do not vary when exposed to UV rays. Additionally, the thin product is
lightweight and easy to install, making it suitable for virtually every indoor
and outdoor home surface.

Stone and marble continue to trend strongly. Mixed stone looks, where
a wide variation of stone types are combined, leverage the ability of tile
inkjet graphics to deliver a visually stunning pattern that would be nearly
impossible to recreate in nature. Add to that the fact that tile is nonporous
and can be specified in an anti-slip format, and this gives designers huge
advantages for the kitchen and bath area.
* Encaustic. Classic encaustic tiles in a wide variety of colors and
patterns were very popular at the fair. Since they launched two years ago
by a few companies, now nearly every manufacturer has a hydraulic look
from antiqued to modern.
Neolith Iron Copper offers an oxidized
industrial look that is trending and is
available in 3-, 5- or 12-mm thicknesses. The thinner tiles can be used
over an existing surface.

* Beveled. Beveled tile adds dimension, depth and interest to a subway
tile pattern. Tile textures and geometric shapes give designers the flexibility
to take classic looks and recreate them in new, interesting ways.
* Terra Cotta. Warm terra cotta finishes appear to be coming back. It
will be interesting to see if this trend holds and continues to grow. It's an
update on the traditional Mediterranean look that has been improved
upon and made to look handmade or antiqued - even when it's new because of ever-improving inkjet and reactive glaze technologies.
* Paleo. Wood tiles are always popular, and Spanish companies
continue to push the envelope to drive unique looks, including ultra realism, driftwood and reclaimed wood, and now it seems we've gone Paleo
as fossilized looks have entered the fray. n
Inalco launched a new 12-mm thin porcelain countertop in a
5-ft. x 10-ft. format with natural or bush-hammered finishes.
