Emerald Expositions announces
the launch of Design Americas, a
new show catering to the hospitality,
contract, kitchen and bath and
retail design markets. The show will serve as the definitive destination for
designers looking to explore the latest products and services either from a
respective sector or across the entire design industry.
Taking place at the Miami Beach Convention Center in Miami
Beach, Fla., from Sept. 16 to September 17, 2015, the event will take the
form of four shows in one, with a floor plan that separates each sector, but
allows attendees easy access to the entire exhibition. The unified show will
also welcome leaders in the respective focuses for a series of panels and
Design Americas will be promoted to the newly created 220,000+ attendee/reader database of The Design Group (www.thedesigngroup.me),
including a fresh and extensive purpose-built database of the top architects, interior designers, developers, visual merchandisers and retailers in
the key markets of Brazil, Mexico, Columbia, Argentina, Venezuela, Peru,
Chile and the Caribbean Islands.
The Design Group serves the interior design marketplace through
its leading industry events and media. The kitchen and bath sector
is addressed by K+BB magazine. Supporting the hospitality sector
are Hospitality Design Expo, HD Americas, HD Summit and Hospitality Design magazine. The contract and commercial space sector
is represented by Contract magazine, while retail design is served by
GlobalShop and design:retail magazine. The Design Group is a division of Emerald Expositions, LLC.
Fisher & Paykel Appliances has announced an exclusive partnership
and culinary alliance with Chef Ludo Lefebvre, who has been hailed as
one of the most influential chefs in the U.S. The alliance covers the category of premium kitchen appliances in which Luefebvre will serve as a
LG Electronics' EcoHybrid Heat Pump Dryer has been
awarded the 2014 Energy Star Emerging Technology
Award, which recognizes innovative technologies that
meet rigorous performance criteria to reduce energy use
and greenhouse gas emissions without sacrificing features or functionality. The LG EcoHybrid Dryer is the first
commercially available dryer in the U.S. to use heat pump
technology to capture and recycle energy generated
during the drying process.
Harman Stoves is celebrating 35 years in business this year. In recognition
of this milestone and in support of its American-made heritage, Harman
will donate one of its P43 pellet stoves to a deserving U.S. military family
each month from September through December 2014. Active and former
military members can participate in the giveaway by visiting Harman's
website. Military families may also be nominated by friends and family.
TOTO has entered into a distribution agreement with Blackman Plumbing Supply. The company's full line of residential and commercial fittings
and fixtures will be available at Blackman's 19 branches throughout New
York and New Jersey and will be on display in all Blackman showrooms.
In a partnership with Water for People, American Standard Brands is donating 600,00 SaTo sanitary toilet pans over the next five years to help save
lives and prevent the spread of disease from open-pit latrines worldwide.
This partnership is expected to improve the lives of an estimated 3,000,000
people, with the first shipments to be distributed by Water for People in
Malawi and Uganda. The pan works without sewer infrastructure and uses
mechanical and water seals to close off the latrines to the open air.
Cabinets to Go raised $36,000 during its nationwide Memorial Day Sale
to be donated to the Wounded Warrior Project. The check was given
to Eric DeLion, who served two tours in Iraq and suffered effects from firefights, incoming mortar rounds, rocket attacks and vehicle bombings. The
project's purpose is to raise awareness of and enlist the public's aid for
the needs of injured service members and to provide direct programs
and services to meet their needs.
Thos. Moser, American maker of handmade, solid wood
furniture, has named Susan Davis to the new position of
chief brand officer. She will be responsible for defining,
leading and executing the brand's image, experience
and promise. She will also be responsible for driving the
development of strategic partnerships to identify and
cultivate new customers and distribution channels consistent with the
Hansgrohe SE has provided faucets to support the reconstruction
efforts in the Balkans. During the past weeks, 1,000 bathroom mixers
were delivered to the crisis area where they are being distributed to
the affected private households by aid organizations. Frank Semling, a
member of Hansgrohe SE's board, was in charge of the donation campaign together with Dirk Rennau, the company's area sales manager,
ATI Decorative Laminates has appointed Dave Orbegoso Western regional sales manager. In his new role, he will
work to expand the health care, hospitality, education
and retail markets for ATI in the Western U.S. His responsibilities include the training and management of sales representatives and distributors in 12 states.
American Standard Brands has added three
people to its design team. Emilie Williams, as associate design director for faucets, leads all design projects for that category. She formerly
served as senior designer at Ignite USA. Greg
Reinecker, as lead designer, oversees industrial
design projects from concept through implementation across various
product categories. He has worked with Teams Design in Chicago and
Axis Design in Austin, Texas. Gabriela Ravassa, working as industrial designer, is currently focused on trade faucet lines for American Standard and
DXV, the company's new flagship luxury bathroom and kitchen brand. All
three report to the new vice president of design, Jean-Jacques L'Hénaff.
