Ken Nisch, JGA Chairman What are you most looking forward to as a judge? "The chance to see such a breadth and depth of creativity in a single place and to be inspired by them. Having the chance with my fellow judges to impact the state-of-the-industry through creative and operational benchmarking is also a great privilege." Nancy Epstein, CEO of Artistic Tile What will you be looking for in terms of criteria in the submissions? "I will be looking for showrooms that demonstrate to the consumer how the products displayed can enhance their lives through ease of navigation, lack of clutter, excellent lighting, elevation of product and design consistency." Chelsie Butler, KBB Executive Editor What is most important to you when it comes to the design of a showroom? A showroom should be able to display enough product and feature some tech-savvy elements without being overwhelming. An interactive space for showing how a product works and being able to host classes and events is also helpful in attracting potential clients. DesignBites Host Tells All These sessions will be an energetic way for brands within the kitchen and bath space to present their latest and greatest innovations in a limited amount of time through Pechakuchastyle presentations. Brands will have three minutes to showcase products, followed by a two-minute Q&A with the audience. KBB talked with host Scott McGillivray of "HGTV Income Property" about what to expect. What makes you excited to host this event? I always tell homeowners that kitchens and bathrooms are the most important rooms when it comes to increasing the value of any home. During the Q&A portion, I will engage both the presenter and the audience in conversation, taking an innovative product solution and turning the features and benefits into a 'why is this good for me' discussion. What problem will this solve? Why do I need this solution? Does it compromise on aesthetics or performance? Will you be adding your own "spin" to the program? My fun, playful side balances my serious and practical approach to renovating and real estate investing. I will bring that approach to the stage to put presenters at ease, engage the audience and make it easy for the media to interact and ask questions. KBIS 2016 will highlight outdoor living and will debut an Outdoor Products Area in South Hall. The pavilion will showcase the latest in outdoor kitchen and living design trends via panels and demonstrations, and products from more than 15 brands will also be featured.
