Doppio, to contrast glossy finishes.
In addition to the mix of gloss and matte, bath
trends included the creative use of materials and
in-home spas, along with a surprising touch of
nostalgic products in between.
Innovation in Materials. Showers that can transform into floor-to-ceiling mirrors showed
up alongside shower handles that doubled as
shelves, like the Hansgrohe Select (7). Cosentino (8) showed off the customized printing
capabilities of its Dekton surface material in
a Spanish café, which captures the look of exposed white brick. Alape (9) tuned into the consistent trend to stay streamlined with Folio, a
washbasin with a 3-mm-thick glazed steel cover
for a delicate look but a strong make, which is
also available in silk matte finishes.
Bringing the Spa Home. Manufacturers also paved
the way for consumers to have their very own
sauna or spa-like bath at home. Dornbracht
(10) stood out with products like an aromatherapy-infused showerhead, along with a horizontal shower (shown here) and independently
controlled and personalized showerheads. For
the complete spa package, Effegibi (11) promoted a two-part spa system with a hammam
on one side and a sauna on the other, appropriately called BodyLove. Axor (12) brought it
all together with an uncluttered luxury shower
experience, Axor One - the brand's first all-inone interactive shower control element.

Feeling Nostalgic. The Icona Classic collection of
cross handles from Fantini (13) was designed
as "a kind of pass-key with a small touch of
memory," said Belgian designer Vincent Van
Duysen, who created the collection. The oldfashioned shape has a contemporary finish,
similar to Duravit's Cape Cod Vanity (14),
which evokes the shape of a picnic table with a
contemporary washbasin on top. Faucets with
joystick-lever handles - like Zuccheti's Wosh
(15) - suggest playtime and video games with a
stainless steel finish. Regia (16) also launched
its new freestanding washbasin, Spritz, with a
design inspired by an octagonal drinking glass.

THE KITCHEN'S NEW LOOK
While the International Bathroom Exhibition
focused on either small spaces or grand luxury, the
kitchens at EuroCucina across the board seemed
bigger and better than ever. Living spaces are even
more infused into the kitchen, which is emphasizing what Varenna by Poliform (17) calls "luxury
entertaining" in its Arthena kitchen. With that
type of kitchen comes innovation in cabinetry and
artistic storage, wine coolers for the modern-day
connoisseur and the subtle naturalism of wood
cabinets and islands in between.
