KBIS 2019 HAD RECORD ATTENDANCE and lots
of amazing new kitchen and bath products. Here
is a recap of just a few of our favorites, as well as
their features that benefit everyone, regardless of
current or future needs or age.
"Refrigerators & Ovens. It is often difficult to see
glass shelves with traditional refrigerator lighting. Monogram has released a refrigerator with
LED-lighted shelf edges. Wi-Fi temperature
control keeps food fresher, and a self-filling
filtered water pitcher is easily accessible just
inside the unit. Monogram has also released a
French-door, illuminated oven that is easy to see
when installed at eye level. It is easily accessible
with its double-acting doors; pull one and both
open, extending out only half the distance of a
traditional drop-down door.
"Smart Home Technology. Adjustable lights can
change our moods and make tasks easier. Controlling heating and air conditioning; monitoring home security; closing garage doors;
monitoring appliances, television and music
- even checking your emails - can now all be
integrated into a single-point control system
from Control4. A major plus of the company's
technology is being able to troubleshoot and reset their equipment remotely, a great benefit for
customers who cannot easily reach the devices.

"Personal Hygiene Toilet Seats. Bidet-type toilet seats are all the rage, and they
should be - not only for comfort but more importantly for health reasons.
TOTO has raised the standard they originally established with the Washlet
S550e seats. Now with improved remote wireless controls, some models
include automatic flushing. It's not being lazy, it's being sanitary and smart.
"Palm Hand Showers. Instead of holding the standard round handle, your
hand slips inside the back of the showerhead - almost like a baseball mitt.
This simple feature makes bathing easier for everyone, especially those who
may have hand dexterity challenges. Delta has released this new product,
and it fits most everyone's hand. A new must have!
"Upper Cabinet Storage. Upper cabinet interiors are out of convenient reach
for most homeowners. Rev-A-Shelf once again solves this issue with its
new version of the 5PD pull-down mechanism, which uses gas-assist
cylinders that gently and easily lower upper cabinet shelves down to a
comfortable level.
"Smart Faucets. No longer do you need a measuring cup to measure water.
You can simply set a cooking pot in the sink and tell the faucet to dispense
four cups of water and the magic happens! Kohler has released this technology with the Sensate Touchless Kitchen Faucet. You can wave your hand
to control it, or you can use the traditional lever handle. This is very useful
for those who can't read the little numbers on a measuring cup.
"Home Water Usage & Leak Detection. You can monitor your water usage,
and if there is a leak, you can shut off your water from virtually anywhere
using your phone or computer. Moen released its Flo by Moen, which is
installed on the water main piping coming into the home. This device has
flow, pressure and temperature sensors that even diagnose unusual water
usage - from a small leak to a major pipe break - saving your home and
precious belongings. Your insurance company will love you.
"Lighted Voice Mirrors. Imagine walking into your bathroom and asking your
mirror for your schedule for the day, checking the weather forecast and
adjusting the lighting - all with voice commands. Kohler has now released
the Verdera Voice Lighted Mirror.This state-of-the-art technology is not
your grandmother's mirror. You can activate and adjust other smart home
systems and adjust the mirror's LED lighting. It even has a motion sensor
to illuminate the bathroom as you approach it in low-light settings.
"Balance-Assist Sinks. Safety Sinks has released a line of sinks with integrated
handles that help everyone stay in balance. The sinks are also very useful
for walker and wheelchair users who need help standing at the sink or
pulling up to it.
