William "Skip" Woodall III, CEO, Vent-A-Hood

This 2019 inductee leads Richardson,Texas-based Vent-A-Hood, which has
served the kitchen and bath industry for 85 years.William "Skip"Woodall III
holds five commercially successful U.S. patents in various aspects of ventilation design and is a 41-year member of the NKBA. He was inducted by his
son, Bill Woodall.
After serving in the U.S. Marines, Skip began his Vent-A-Hood career
working in the factory, literally learning the ventilation business from the
ground up. He became president in 1992 and CEO in 2006.
"Throughout his tenure at the company, he has maintained a commitment
to customer service, brand loyalty and employee support," said Bill Woodall.
"He began a training program called Vent-A-Hood University, which

was created to educate dealer salespeople from
all over the U.S. and Canada about the principles
of kitchen ventilation. He served on the NKBA
board from 2013 to 2015 and received the NKBA
40 Years of Service Award in 2017. He is a leader
in the ventilation industry, a visionary who has
developed products that impact air quality and
healthy living in the kitchen environment."
Skip accepted the distinction on behalf of the
entire Vent-A-Hood company. His father was
inducted in 1994.
"It is especially meaningful to me to be a secondgeneration recipient of this award," he said. "I am
proud that our family-owned and managed company has not only survived but adapted and grown
as the market has changed throughout the years."
He credited the company's longtime distributors, some of whom have been there for multiple
generations, and the people who comprise the
office and factory workforce for helping make
Vent-A-Hood a success.
"The core of our company is our desire to be
the best at what we do," he added. "So we follow
industry leads, innovate, update and constantly
strive to produce a product that reflects the highest
standards of manufacturing."

NKBA chairman Steve Joseph introduced the
next honoree, who was inducted posthumously:
Ann M. Morris, CMKBD. Morris, who died in
April 2018, was a longtime instructor and supporter of the NKBA. Her design career began in
the 1970s in New York and was punctuated by a
passion for color. She appeared on HGTV, and her
work was featured in such national publications as
House Beautiful, The New York Times, Better Homes
and Gardens and Inspired House.
Accepting the award on Morris' behalf was
longtime colleague Joseph E. Feinberg, CGC,
owner of Allied Kitchen and Bath, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
"I had the privilege to work with Ann for 15
years. She was a personal friend, dedicated employee and a talented designer," he said. "As an
instructor at Parsons School of Design in Manhattan, she taught an advanced-level interior design class from 1988 through 1992. She earned
her Certified Master Kitchen & Bath Designer
accreditation from the NKBA - the highest certification granted by the association. She also held
Certified Aging in Place Specialist and Color for
Your Home designations."
Morris was a regular presenter for NKBA webinars and courses from 2007 to 2017, served as
a chapter officer for both the NKBA Manhattan

and South Florida chapters for many years and was inducted to the NKBA
Ambassador's Club in 2007.
On her website, she was quoted as saying, "I believe in creating interiors
that reflect a total look, full of character and personal style."She always closed
her courses by saying, "Remember color sells, and the right color sells better.
Have a colorful day!"
"Ann had breast cancer and fought a great fight for many years,"said Feinberg."We honor her every October, supporting Breast Cancer Awareness for
the entire month. Ann leaves a legacy of so many accomplishments, but more
important is how she inspired others to be successful and live with passion."
