I

t's no secret that the kitchen and bath business is a fast-moving, increasingly global enterprise today. As part of our continuing drive to build
awareness of the association and our North American kitchen and bath
industry, we are bringing our message to the world stage.This fall, senior
leadership is traveling to England and Germany for two Global Connect events.
The purpose of these visits is to build brand awareness of NKBA - and
subsequently, our members - and introduce the global design community
to what American companies are doing, as well as introducing international
firms interested in the North American market to KBIS and our association.
In October, we head to Chester, north of London, for our inaugural Global
Connect Business Summit, "Looking West: Understanding the North
American Market." Topics will include lifestyle, life stage and design trends;
demographics and geographic realities of the North American market; the
business outlook; our quarterly Kitchen & Bath Market Index (KBMI), a
barometer of the current and future health of the industry conducted with
John Burns Real Estate Consulting; and other key options for considering
opportunities here.
The event will be co-located with the British Bathroom Manufacturers
Association's annual conference, which this year is themed "Brave New
World."We'll share research on the strong remodeling/replacement market
in North America with overviews of the residential construction sector and
specifics pertaining to kitchen and bath.  
Then, in November, we visit Cologne, where we'll offer a similar agenda
to the German market, including breakdowns of regional differences by
market in the U.S. It will be held in cooperation with AMK, a German trade
association serving that nation's broad spectrum of kitchen manufacturers
- furniture, cabinetry, electrical and built-in appliances, sinks, accessories,
suppliers and more. We will be part of a program that includes a Germanbased research firm.
We firmly believe that opening a conversation among international audiences is the way to enrich the kitchen and bath industry around the world
- ultimately benefiting our own members, whether through exposure to other
markets or sharing valuable data that can help us all make more informed
business decisions.

Another critical pillar of our association's mission is professional development. This month,
we'll gather at the CEDIA Expo in Denver
to present a Thought Leadership Summit for
NKBA-certified members.This important learning opportunity tackles an issue that's moving
faster than 5G: technology for the connected
home. The theme of the summit is "Connecting the Connectors," where we will reinforce the
importance of building relationships and collaborating with integrators and experts in connected
kitchen and bath technology and installation.
CEDIA, the Custom Electronic Design &
Installation Association, represents the brands,
integrators and dealers that facilitate integrated
communication between you and the devices in
your home and your clients'homes. It's a daunting
topic but one that's so important for all kitchen
and bath professionals to explore. Every area of
home design, particularly K&B, is moving toward
the connected home. NKBA members who stay
ahead of the curve will have a distinct business
advantage over those who do not, and NKBA
wants to provide opportunities to disseminate
this information. As we have seen at KBIS and
at other shows and events around the country -
and around the world - connected tech is rapidly
becoming available in all categories of appliances,
fixtures, surfaces, lighting and cabinetry.
We'll be in booth 1778H in the Design + Connection Pavilion at the Colorado Convention
Center, Sept. 10-14. We'll showcase our research
and release our latest study on Bathroom Technology Awareness and Usage. We hope you'll stop by

Finally, the crescendo of this busy season leads
us to Las Vegas for KBIS 2020, Jan. 21-23. We'll
have lots more on the exciting array of events and
