A ﬂoor-to-ceiling
wall of blue quartzite with a
cantilevered shelf provides
the backdrop for the elegant
vessel tub - a must for the lady
of the house. Surrounding the
tub are the ﬁreplace, the coﬀee
station and TV.

They decided to cut the material in half where the
cantilevered shelf sits adjacent to the tub.
"It was decided to cut the stone all the way
across at this visually unnoticeable point to make
the installation and securing of the massive piece
easier," she explained. "Drywall was cut out at the
ceiling so the stone could be secured at the top
within the ceiling space, while numerous attachments securing the back of the quartzite to the
stud wall were added at the rear of the wall."
DISTINCTIVE ELEMENTS

The vessel tub is able to retain the water's heat, and
it also provides lumbar support. Lighted mirrors
at the sink supply ample light for getting ready in
the morning, and heated flooring and towel bars
and a fireplace offer plenty of warmth.
"Since there was already a wood-burning and
gas fireplace in the home, we decided to use a cutting-edge electric model that provides heat and
has almost unlimited options for 'flame' color,"
said Nea. "The bathroom, though compact, has
exceeded our expectations and has become the favorite space of visitors when they tour the home."
The double-entry shower offers body sprays, a
rainhead and a spray wand, and the Pooles have
made the joke that they should sell tickets to guests
wanting to use the shower in their master bath.
This year's judges appreciated this project for
its unique floor plan, the beautiful stone slab wall
behind the tub and being able to access the shower
from both sides.
