BUILDING THE VISION FORWARD

P

art of our mission at NKBA is to inspire and inform our membership
and the industry at large. As we close out 2019 and get ready for a new
year - and a new decade - we are reflecting on the strides we made in
the past 12 months and looking forward to our 2020 vision.
In 2019, we redoubled our efforts to help our members build their knowledge and enhance their businesses and careers through exclusive Thought
Leadership summits, webinars, industry-leading research, our Specialty
Badge program and highly regarded certifications.
We've amped up the spotlight on the ongoing crisis in the skilled labor
market and are continuing to build our NextUp program.This initiative aims
to create awareness among high school students in their critical decisionmaking years about the varied, lucrative and plentiful career paths that are
available to workers in kitchen and bath design and remodeling. We expect
to roll the program out to more schools in the year ahead.
And we've brought the message of the NKBA to markets around the
country and around the world, spreading the benefits of membership and
how we can serve you. Anyone in business today understands that commerce is global and that through the speed of the internet, consumers are
well informed about the latest trends in design, technology - you name it.
Our industry will be stronger when we share ideas with the participation
of a diverse array of brands and companies. Our Global Connect initiative
focuses on building awareness of NKBA abroad and facilitating a global
conversation. It's just one element of our ongoing strategic commitment to
encourage the growth of the kitchen and bath industry beyond geographical
borders and into a global economic force.
To this end, we held our inaugural Global Connect Summit in Manchester, England, in October, where we spoke to the Bathroom Manufacturers
Association, UK (BMA), German Kitchen Association, Germany (AMK),
British Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom and Bathroom Installation, UK (BiKKBI), Central Anatolia Exporters Association, Turkey (OAIB), Turkish
Ceramics Association and MUDER - both from Turkey - to help build
awareness of the association and our members on an international scale.

East, who expressed interest in learning about
the American market and engaging with our
members. Going forward, we hope to expand this
international reach.
This is the busiest time of year for us at NKBA:
the run-up to KBIS. We are engaged in making this the best show yet, assembling an array
of amazing product and new technologies, plus
tremendous learning and networking opportunities for all our attendees.
There's still time to register for the Voices of the
Industry Conference (visit www.kbis.com/conference/voices-from-the-industry-conference),
which will earn certified designers CEUs and give
everyone new insights into the latest advancements and best practices across all aspects of K&B
specialty training, design, management, growing
a small business and customer service. At KBIS
2020, there are 74 one-hour sessions (each earning 0.1 CEU), including about 25 new speakers.
There are also five interactive lab sessions and
three professional development courses of two
hours each, earning 0.2 CEU credits.
At KBIS, we'll also be releasing three new Specialty Badges in Color, Lighting and Sustainability and will host three review/test sessions to
prepare and for badges in Sustainability (Tuesday,
9 a.m. to noon); Cabinetry (Wednesday, 12-3
p.m.) and Remodeling (Thursday, 9 a.m. to noon).
The sessions will be held on site at the Las Vegas Convention Center, South Hall, Room 107.

knowledge in specific areas of today's kitchen
and bath industry for NKBA members across all
segments of the business.
It's a key component in our continuing drive
to keep our members one step ahead of advancements in this rapidly evolving industry to better compete, build their businesses and keep our
industry thriving. It's part of our vision for 2020,
and we hope you'll be along for the journey. ˜
