brand-building fund that provides digital marketing including search engine
optimization and marketing, social
media, public relations and television,
radio, email and direct marketing.

AcAdemic Focus
Kiddie Academy's proprietary curriculum aligns with state standards, bringing an emphasis to science, technology
engineering and mathematics. Kiddie
Academies also offer enrichment programs that include education in music
and the arts, health and fitness, and
foreign and sign languages.
Parents can check in on their children online throughout the day via
webcams. Password-protected access
to classroom cameras show parents a
view of their child's day-to-day activity. "They can find where their children are, see what they are involved

in and what learning is going on," Helwig says.
Parents are also sent photos and
video of their children during the
day by staff members equipped with
handheld devices. Those staff members, typically with degrees in early
childhood education or related subjects, are well-trained by the local Kiddie Academy franchisee.
Kiddie Academy is committed to
achieving measurable educational
improvements in its students, who
are assessed at certain intervals to
indicate their progress to parents.
Additionally, "All academies are pursuing national accreditation - which
is a hot topic among consumers and
parents looking for quality," Helwig
notes. Many academies have already
achieved accreditation.
For the future, the company plans
moderate growth, opening from 30
to 35 new academies annually so its

expansion does not outstrip its infrastructure. In the last 18 months, Helwig estimates the company has added
up to 10 new employees to its staff. He
attributes the company's longevity to
"a really good, sound business model,
a proprietary curriculum - which is
somewhat unique in our industry - and
a strategy that includes very thoughtful and decisive hiring practices.
"The most important thing we
have that our competitors don't is
our staff," he stresses. "We've gone
to great lengths to recruit and hire
the absolute best people out there,
and that's not always such an easy
task. But we've made it our mission
to recruit and hire the best folks we
can find. Their work has been terrific, and I put them up against any staff
out there. Our employees, as well as
our valued and dedicated franchisees, are the reason Kiddie Academy
is so successful."
