The need for Signal 88 Security's services can be seen any given day by just turning on the news.
Shootings, robberies and other violent crimes dominate much of the
airwaves, making it difficult for just
about anyone to truly feel secure.
Since 2003, the company has worked
to make people feel more assured of
their safety, even in a world where that
safety seems constantly threatened.
"We were founded at the beginning
to provide people with the freedom of
feeling secure so they can pursue their

passions in life," CEO Reed Nyffeler
says. "Everywhere you look there's
something happening that's threatening that, and fear, uncertainty and
doubt are rampant throughout the
country. We see ourselves as a company that gives people peace of mind."
The business was formed in Omaha,
Neb., by a retired police officer who
hired off-duty police to provide security services for private and commercial properties. The business expanded from one location into a franchise
concept after Nyffeler met the officer

in 2007. "He understood the nuts and
bolts of what his business should be
doing, but needed the systems and
people in place to properly run and
scale the business; in other words, he
was the classic franchise candidate,"
Nyffeler says.
After joining the company, Nyffeler
applied his past business experience
to establish central support and franchise structure within the Signal 88
corporate office located in Omaha.
"Our franchisees are former military
and police officers who are familiar
with how to protect their communities, but maybe don't understand the
business aspect," he says. "We provide operations, administration, payroll, billing and other support services
to help franchise owners run their
businesses effectively."
