New management at Batista’s firms — Eyzaguirre quits Canal 13 — Venezuelan
central bank gets third governor of 2013. By Karen Schwartz

EBX shake-up
as financial problems
intensified at Eike Batista’s
group of companies, the
former billionaire quit as
chairman of Brazilian logistics
firm llX logística. His
resignation came after he
agreed to sell control of the
company to US investment firm
eiG Global energy Partners.
Roberto D’Araújo Senna
replaces Batista. 
Shipbuilder OSX, another
in Batista’s group, named
Marcelo Gomes as chief
executive, replacing carlos
eduardo Bellot. Gomes has
been advising oSX with
the firm alvarez & marsal
Brasil. over at eBX, chief
financial officer Otávio
Lazcano resigned. chief
executive Batista picked up his
responsibilities.
Nicolás Eyzaguirre
resigned from his post as
chairman of chile’s Canal
13 television network. the
economist left the international
monetary fund, where
he directed the Western
Hemisphere department, in
2012 to become chairman of
the network. He is replaced by
internal appointee Rodrigo
Terré Fontbona. 
Brasil Foods hired
BtG Pactual partner
Claudio Galeazzi as chief
executive, replacing José
antonio do Prado fay who held
the role since october 2008.
Eduardo Bartolomeo has
been named chief executive
of Brazil Hospitality Group,

replacing Pieter Vader who
has held the role for the past
five years. Bartolomeo has
previously worked at Vale,
amBev and companhia
Siderúrgica Paulista.
agustín Solari has resigned
as chief executive of Falabella
Retail Chile after 21 years at
the firm. He is replaced by
Gonzalo Somoza.
Cementos Bío Bío hired
Iñaki Otegui Minteguia as
chief executive. He comes from
a management role with the
company’s cement unit, and
replaces Jorge matus campos,
who left after 39 years at the
cement maker.
Brazil’s Braskem has named
Mario Augusto da Silva as
chief financial and investor
relations officer. He is former
chief financial officer for the
latam arm of odebrecht
Óleo & Gás and odebrecht
infraestrutura.

Venezuelan President nicolás
maduro named Eudomar
Tovar as head of the country’s
central bank, replacing Edmée
Betancourt, who had held the
position since april. tovar had
been head of exchange control
board cadivi.
Scotia Group Jamaica
named Jacqueline Sharp
president and chief executive.
the former chief financial
officer replaces Bruce Bowen,
who stays on as a director.
Scotiabank named
Francisco Sardón as chief

UBS hired Emilio Mahuad
as head of corporate client
solutions mexico, to oversee
the Swiss bank’s m&a, ecm
and Dcm operations in the
country. He joins after a nineyear stint at Bank of america
merrill lynch.
UBS has also hired Mariano
Espada to head of latam ecm.
espada had been at morgan
Stanley since 2000, most
recently heading up the exBrazil ecm operation, and left
last year.
Crédit Agricole hired Rose
Perez from Barclays for latin
american loan syndications.
Bernardo Palomera joined
Natixis’s latin american debt
capital markets team from
crédit agricole. He follows a
group of other bankers, led
by Jean-Philippe adam, who
was hired in may to run the
team.
Kristie Pellecchia left
latam loan syndication at
BNP Paribas for a spot on
its consumer products team
covering clients in north
america. She had worked in
syndication since 2010, and
been with BnP Paribas since
