The artist wished to celebrate the arts in the city with an abstract representation
of the ocean and its marine wildlife off Laguna's awe-inspiring shores.

Created through a donation by Scott Holt,
Skendarian family, Scottie Summers,
Vanderveen family and Willingham family.
Public Art

Marlo's vibrant ceramic mural is a conduit to
Brooks Street Beach, a popular surf spot,
and host to the Brooks Street Surfing Classic
since 1955. The abstract mural captures
the ocean, reflected in the tiles and shape,
which curve with the coastline. Functional as
seating or for standing, the ocean is nearly
at your feet. "I hope it's inspiring and will be
used for communication to show similarities
between people," Marlo said.

This mural is made entirely
from hand cut glass mosaic
tiles that are intricately installed
representing the shades and
luminosity of the nautilus shell.
The nautilus shell is a recurring
theme in public art throughout
the city.
