One idea for cocktail-creation
is the Mr. Potato Head method.
It involves starting with a classic
recipe-like how the classic kids'
toy swaps a mouth for a mouth,
a nose for a nose, etc. In making
a new cocktail, switch out similar
ingredients (liquor for liquor, a
bitter component for a bitter,
sour for sour, sweet for sweet,
and so on), and adjust as needed.

Combine the sugar cube,
bitters and 1 teaspoon water in
a lowball glass. Muddle well,
add whiskey and stir. Add ice,
a twist of a lemon peel, a slice
of orange and a cherry.
