DOWNTOWN W Talk about walkable! LET'S GO alking the red brick sidewalks and admiring the 18th- and 19thcentury architecture may be your first " on the ground " introduction to downtown Lexington, a place of significance as noted by its National Register of Historic Places designation. Well preserved and free of many chain or national brand stores, downtown has been described as quaint and charming, with each storefront exuding warm Southern hospitality. The clip-clop of hooves signal a narrated carriage tour of the historic district with Lexington Carriage Company. At a slower pace that is easier on the feet, you will learn of Lexington's founding, how and why the streets were lowered in the 1850s, and you will see the historic churches that have grounded our community, including First Baptist Church of Lexington with its soaring white steeple. 10 LEXINGTON | BUENA VISTA | ROCKBRIDGE CHRIS WEISLER
