; Big Stone Gap General Store. (Big Stone Gap,
VA). Located inside an old newspaper office, the Big
Stone Gap General Store serves a quite-popular
coal-fired pizza. The store, 215 Wood Ave., opened
in 2020; it features live music. The venue sells
handmade local crafts, ciders, teas and candles. YR.

; Axe Handle Distilling. (Pennington Gap, VA). Lee
County's Axe Handle Distilling features moonshine
making plus live music and other events at
Pennington Gap, one of the region's largest towns.

; Appalachian Arts Center. (Cedar Bluff, VA). The
Appalachian Arts Center is set to move in 2021
to the Cedar Bluff Mill, a historic structure just
a few miles from the center's longtime location
on US_460. Affiliated with Southwest Virginia
Community College, the center offers paintings,
books, pottery and other arts by regional makers. YR.

; Spearhead Sportsman Complex. (Dickenson
Cocunty, VA). Spearhead Trails is the name of
a network of ATV trails spanning the Heart of
Appalchia. Dickenson County offers the Spearhead
Sportsman Complex, featuring a shooting range
at Snowball Hollow plus an archery range at

; East River Mountain Trail. (Tazewell County, VA).
A new hiking trail that opened in October 2020 takes
hikers to Chimney Rock with an amazing overlook
of Garden Mountain, which provides the protective
shoulders for the valley of Burke's Garden. The trail
includes two loops - spanning one mile and two miles
- near the Town of Tazewell. YR.

; Clinch River State Park. (St. Paul, VA). Plans
continue to evolve for the Clinch River State Park
with a blueway that connects Artrip to St. Paul.
Nine miles of trails are open at Sugar Hill in St. Paul,
affording two miles along the river for fishing. The
river is known for its rare species of mussels. YR.

Weekend brunch is available on Saturdays

Paul, VA). From giant burgers, so juicy and
loaded with toppings, to mouthwatering
appetizers, the Sugar Hill Brewing
Company offers casual comfort food at

the pimento cheeseballs - one of the most
popular appetizers, along with chicken

classic landmark stands at the gateway to
Gate City's downtown district and within
walking distance to the campus of Gate

of Virginia's College at Wise is known
