As 460 rounds the bend into Giles
enough for easy tubing.
County, towering Salt Pond Mountain
fills the horizon. At Mountain Lake,
near the summit, flora is decidedly
more Canadian. The War Spur and
Wind Rock trails in the Mountain Lake Wilderness
are moderately easy trails that connect with the
Appalachian Trail (AT) and lead to scenic overlooks.
Other popular day-hike sections of the AT in
Giles are Kelly's Knob near Newport and Angel's

camping for up to 20 days.
