Shenandoah Mountain, enjoy an 11-mile ridge ride,
and rock an almost 2-mile descent to Braley Pond.
Get There: Follow U.S. 250 west out of Staunton
for 20.4 miles. Cross the Calfpasture River and
turn right onto Braley Pond Road. Continue for a
couple hundred feet, and turn left at the sign for
the Braley Pond Day Use Area.

CANOE OR KAYAK
South River, Basic Park to Crimora Park,
Waynesboro/Crimora. 7.5 miles

What to Expect: A gorgeous float starting in
downtown Waynesboro with lots of riffles and
farmland. Fisherman can expect excellent conditions
for redbreast sunfish, smallmouth, rock bass, and
stray trout from upstream fisheries. Along the way,
you'll pass a Department of Forestry tree farm and
some nifty rock outcroppings.
Get There: From the boat landing at Basic Park,
head north for .3 miles on Sherwood Avenue, turning
right onto Hopeman Parkway. Follow for .4 miles
and turn left on U.S. 340. Go 4.9 miles, then turn
left onto Va. 612. Continue for .7 miles to the takeout
at Crimora Park.
