Do you use a jigger?

Yes. Most people think using a jigger is about cost,
but it's actually about making sure the guests get a
perfectly balanced cocktail every single time. Whether we're talking about making a specialty cocktail or
a gin and tonic, the proper ratios are the most important thing. A gin and tonic could taste horrible if
there is too much alcohol or too little. Cocktails are
all about balance.
What's your favorite liquor-personally and as a
bartender?

Personally, it would be a nice single-barrel bourbon.
As a bartender, vodka is always fun to work with because it's so universal. You can do almost anything
you want with it.

Cocktail Recipe: Cucumber Gimlet
1½ ounces Bombay Sapphire Gin
1 ounce simple syrup
1 ounce fresh-squeezed lime juice
4-5 muddled cucumber slices
Shake the ingredients and strain over ice.

From Catoctin Creek
* 2 ozs. Catoctin Creek Roundstone Rye

* ½ oz. Uncle Val's Botanical Gin

* ¾ oz. sweet vermouth

* ½ oz. Elderflower Liqueur

* ½ oz. Benedictine

* ¾ oz. Small Hands Tonic Syrup

* 2 dashes St. George absinthe

* Sparkling water

* 3 dashes Peychaud's bitters
* Luxardo cherry

Combine gin, elderflower
liqueur and tonic syrup in
tin shaker. Add ice, cap with
other side of tin and shake
lightly for 6 seconds,
strain with a Hawthorne
strainer into collins glass
over ice. Fill with sparkling water and garnish
with a lime wheel.

Combine all in a shaker of
ice, and strain into a coupe.
