Old House Vineyards offers plenty of

Silverback Distillery,
Afton
Go ape with this selection of whiskey,
gin, and vodka-made with local grains
and pure mountain water by a motherdaughter distilling duo. Although the
" silverback " name came from the
nickname the daughters used for their
rough-and-tumble dad, it's the wife,
Christine Riggleman, who has served
as distiller. Not only did she study,
apprentice and research to master the
art, but her great-grandmother was also
a distiller, making bathtub gin way back
in the early 1900s! And their daughter,
Lauren Riggleman Weller, has studied
the craft and joined the troop.
Enjoy Silverback's Strange Monkey Gin,
distilled in a dedicated gin still; Beringei
Vodka, made with sweet white corn;
Honey Rye, a liqueur made with local
honey and Silverback's rye whiskey;

Ideally, but not by legal definition,
American single malt is made of a
100 percent malted barley mash bill,
produced at a single U.S. distillery, and
aged in oak casks. These oak casks don't
have to be new (as with bourbon) and
might have previously held sherry, port,
wine or other alcohol.
Virginia Distillery offers several
whiskey options, with subtle and

delicious differences. The Courage &
Conviction line uses a variety of barrels
for aging. The VHW series blends Scotch
