SUNRISE MIMOSA

" All spirits have a special
place with me, " says Andrew
Shope, Manager at Store 295 in
Manassas. " My favorite drink
is something that I have been
making in variations for years.
Family time for me always meant
mimosas and a big breakfast to
reconnect and catch up on the
times we spent apart. My favorite
recipe is a creation of my own. "

▷	 1½ OZ. DEEP EDDY
CRANBERRY VODKA
▷	 ½ OZ. PEACH SCHNAPPS
(PREFERABLY DEKUYPER)
▷	 ½ OZ. RAMAZZOTTI
APERITIVO ROSATO (A
SWEET AND FLORAL ORANGE
APERITIF)
▷	 JUST A SPLASH OF
SPARKLING WINE (NO MORE
THAN 1 OZ.)
▷	 2 OZ. ORANGE JUICE
Fill a rocks glass halfway with
ice, then pour in first four
ingredients. The amount of
sparkling wine should be just
enough to give it some bubbles,
but too much and the drink will
become too bitter. Pour the
orange juice on top for a sunrise
look. Serve with something to
stir, like a fancy drink umbrella.

Alban or Lajita mezcals (as well as
Bushmills or Tullamore Dew Irish
whiskies). His go-to cocktails are
a Bloody Mary or Bloody Maria,
using tequila.
" I love all spirits! " exclaims
Angela Jamerson, Manager at
Store 281 in Madison Heights. She
did, however, manage to narrow
her cocktail recommendation. The
sweet and " simple yet decadent "
Nutty Irishman is made with
Frangelico hazelnut liqueur and
Baileys Irish Cream and can be
made in several different ways:
*	 Chilled and poured into a
shot glass
*	 In a rocks glass with ice for
an easy cocktail
*	 In a martini glass coated on
the inside with chocolate
syrup for a " fancy/
sophisticated " cocktail
*	 Over vanilla, chocolate, or
coffee ice cream for a simple
dessert

with " sweet breakfast foods like
chocolate chip pancakes, waffles,
fresh fruit, or our personal favorite, cinnamon rolls, " he says. " This
drink has a very fruity and light
upfront taste with a bitter finish.

PINEAPPLE RUM PUNCH

Savanna Eby, Manager at Store 258 in Hampton, has a
preference for flavored and black spiced rums. She has
her own twist on Pineapple Rum Punch. Eby suggests
ginger ale for a bolder, richer flavor or lemon-lime soda
for a lighter flavor that enhances the pineapple.

1 OZ. KRAKEN RUM
2 OZ. PINEAPPLE JUICE
A SPLASH OF GRENADINE
GINGER ALE OR SPRITE

Build drink in a tall glass over ice,
adding pineapple rum, Kraken rum,
juice, and grenadine. Top it with
ginger ale or lemon-lime soda.

The peach schnapps and Rosato
do a great job of toning down the
bitterness of the other ingredients
and leave you with a bright citrus
explosion. "
Samantha Parlati recommends
whiskey with meat dishes, stews,
or other comfort foods. " I paired
Yellow Spot with Guinness beef
stew, " she says, " and the complex
sweetness of the whiskey really
worked with the steak and stewed
vegetables. I enjoyed the High
West with duck breast and pickled
cauliflower. The duck is rich and
sweet and complements the
peppery spice of rye whiskey. "
Norman Morris pairs
his bourbon with
steak, potatoes,
and corn because,
he says, " I am a
country boy. "
Logan Baker pairs a
peated Scotch with sushi because
of the almost-salty sea taste and
rawness of a whisky from the
rugged coasts of Scotland, as well
as smoked salmon, pork, and
chicken-and " a tasty cigar, if
that're your cup of tea. "
" Paired with lobster in an
intimate setting, the Manhattan is
a classic cocktail to choose, " says
Angela Duke. " Fresh seafood and
flavorful cocktails go hand and
hand. "
Lucia Zeeb pairs her Spicy
Mexican Mule with Al Pastor
Tacos, made with port and
pineapples. " I really enjoy spice
and bright flavors, " Zeeb says.
" The smoke, pepper, spice,
and bright citrus flavor [of a
Mexcalita] pairs well with grilled
seafood or a creamy pasta, "
suggests Ryan Resavage.
With her Pineapple Rum Punch,
Savanna Eby suggests barbecue
chicken or ribs or " my absolute
favorite, Pineapple Glazed Pork
Chops. "
