CHAIR'S MESSAGE
During the past few months,
Virginians along with our
global neighbors have
experienced a new normal.
Handwashing and facemasks
were the first changes brought
about by COVID-19, followed by
social distancing and staying at
home. Many businesses closed
or were forced to change the
way they operated.
ABC created a new normal in
how we conduct business. To
encourage social distancing, we've
converted nearly 25% of our stores
to a counter service model, where

customers stay at the front counter
while a sales associate gets their selections from the shelf. We've introduced
curbside pickup of online orders in nearly all of our stores and we're testing a
pilot for home delivery!
There's really no reason to leave your home. So now's a good time to curl up
with an adult beverage and this issue of Spirited Virginia. You'll find recipes for
cocktails, sangrias and even milkshakes with a delicious adult twist!
Our story Sweet Summer Cocktails includes three- and four-ingredient recipes
that you can mix in a flash. On page 24 you'll find our list of good, better and best
spirits in 1.75 L bottles-the perfect size for stocking up for the summer.
If you're in the mood for wine, on page 30 you'll find recipes for refreshing
sangria. If ice cream is what you're really craving, then break out your blender and
mix up one of the cool treats mentioned in our Shake It Up feature. An ounce or
two of your favorite spirit takes these cool treats to a whole other level. The Mint
Chocolate Chip shake is delightful!
