top from the bus stop, but it's well worth
the 360-degree panaroma of the
Shenandoah Valley to the west and the
Virginia piedmont spreading out to the
east. Just be sure to pack a long-sleeve shirt
- the wind can get quite cold, even in the
middle of a summer day.
For just one stop on the parkway, Peaks
of Otter offers up quite a lot. From scenic
vistas to a world-class brunch, it's impossible not to stop in for a day or two.
Whether you're relaxing by the lake and
reading a book or exploring the several

trails to the top of all three peaks (don't
forget Flat Top), there's plenty to do and
even more to eat at the lodge. And
remember - give that chicken and waffles
a try; you won't be sorry.
