If you're having critter trouble, Ginny has a dog who will work for corn.

Tips For Critter Control

If you don't have a vigilant dog like Luke, there are other
ways you can protect your garden from predators.
Deer: Damage can be low or high, but leaf edges will have
a torn look to them. Newly placed or shallow rooted plants
may be torn from the ground.
Rabbit: Damage will be below two feet, and leaf edges
will look neatly clipped. Any thick or woody stems will be
cut at a 45 degree angle, and most damage will be done in
the spring because rabbits prefer tender shoots.
Raccoon: Damage will be mostly to corn or fruit trees
although coons will dig up and eat potatoes as well.
Once you've identified your pest, the following controls
may help:
Deer: The only sure solution is to build a fence at least
seven feet tall. Some people swear by smells such as predator
urine (available at garden shops) or piles of human hair. I
have a neighbor who put up a motion detector connected to
a radio. It worked but he said it was annoying. If you are
only growing ornamentals, then plant things deer don't like
to eat. Most garden centers can help you choose
appropriately.
Rabbit: Rabbits are timid, so remove tall grass and brush
piles that provide cover. In addition a short fence of hardware cloth or chicken wire, buried at least a foot in the
ground will stop them. There are also commercial sprays
that are supposed to deter them. Finally, if the problem is
overwhelming, call a trapper. Bunnies are prolific breeders
and sometimes that's the only way to eliminate the
problem.
Raccoon: 'Coons mostly eat corn, so one easy solution is
to plant tall varieties that they can't pull down. Some people
have used electric fencing around their crop and I've even
heard of planting a row of summer squash all around it. The
raccoons don't like to wade through the prickly stems.
If all else fails, perhaps you can call me. I have a dog who
will work for corn. 
